Harry's Big Idea and How it grew.......

The year was 1959.  Eisenhower was in office.  America proudly waved its new 49-star flag.  "Mack the Knife" was Top Ten on the Hit Parade.  And our founder, Harry Zipkin, decided he'd had enough of working for someone else.  It was high time he grabbed his own piece of the American Dream.

Back then, the cable connections industry was still in its infancy.  But Harry saw it's ground-floor potential.

So with $300 and a wealth of good wishes from his friends, family and former co-workers, he and his wife opened up shop.

Harry chose the name CZ Labs ("C" standing for "capacitance", "Z" for "impedance") not only for it's electrical connotation, but also because it gave him attractive placement in alphabetized ad journals.  Harry's marketing strategy proved right: before long, CZ Labs had its first customer, Lafayette Radio.

It was a classic case of good old-fashioned American entrepreneurship.  The company grew steadily, moving to new and larger quarters no less than five times.  And Harry saw his initial $300 investment grow into a multi-million dollar business enterprise -- one of the leaders in the industry.

Over the years, CZ Labs expanded along with the technologies it supported.  The business grew to encompass coax cables, connectors, sophisticated electronics, data comm devices, even satellite components.  Yet, even after 41 years, a few things remain the same.

Like a commitment to quality.  Unsurpassed customer service.  Long-term client relationships.  And Harry, who remains our President, and the driving force behind this great American success story.
